About Pulau Learning
Careful preparation for the years ahead
We exist to give adults in Singapore a clearer, more honest view of their own financial situation — without jargon, without pressure, and without oversimplification.

How Pulau Learning began
Pulau Learning was founded in 2019 by a small group of educators who had spent years working in Singapore's financial services sector and noticed something consistent: adults who were nearing retirement often had a fragmented understanding of their own financial accounts. CPF statements sat unread. SRS balances went unreviewed. Insurance policies accumulated without anyone being quite sure what they covered.
The founders believed this wasn't laziness or indifference — it was the absence of a good starting point. Most available courses were either aimed at young graduates entering the workforce or designed for participants who already held professional credentials. There was very little for the person who simply wanted to understand what they had built over a working life, and what to do with it thoughtfully.
The name Pulau — the Malay word for island — was chosen deliberately. Each area of one's financial life is a little like an island: distinct, with its own character, but connected to the others. The goal of education is not to merge everything into a single map, but to understand how the islands relate and how to navigate between them steadily.
Since 2019, Pulau Learning has worked with several hundred learners across its three core programmes. Courses are kept small. Instructors are selected for their ability to explain rather than impress. And the materials are revised regularly to reflect changes in CPF policy, MAS guidelines, and Singapore's tax framework.
Our Mission
"To give every learner a clear, honest picture of their financial position — and the confidence to act on it at their own pace."
Milestones

Introduced Coordinated Retirement Drawdown, including the final session with a retirement specialist.
Our Instructors
The people behind the courses

Standards
How we approach our work
Educational, not advisory
Pulau Learning provides financial education only. We do not hold a Financial Adviser's Licence and do not provide personalised financial recommendations within course content.
Regularly updated materials
Course content is reviewed at least annually to reflect changes in CPF contribution rates, SRS rules, tax regulations, and MAS guidance.
Data privacy
We hold learner information only for the purposes of course administration and communication. We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Small, manageable cohorts
Cohort sizes are kept modest to allow instructors to know each participant and respond to questions meaningfully. We do not run very large groups for the sake of volume.
Plain, honest language
Course materials are written to be read, not to impress. Technical terms are introduced only when necessary and are always explained in plain English first.
Learner autonomy respected
We present information and options; we do not steer learners toward particular products or providers. Every participant decides for themselves what to do with what they learn.
Our Approach
Financial education designed for working adults in Singapore
Adults approaching the middle decades of their working lives often find themselves holding a collection of financial accounts and instruments that were set up at different times, with different purposes, and are now slightly unfamiliar. CPF accounts accumulate contributions from employment but their detailed workings — the interaction of Ordinary Account, Special Account, and MediSave, the implications of the Full Retirement Sum and Enhanced Retirement Sum — are rarely reviewed carefully until retirement is close. SRS accounts may have been opened on professional advice without a thorough understanding of their drawdown rules. Investment accounts may hold positions that were bought years ago and haven't been revisited.
Pulau Learning's courses address precisely this kind of accumulated complexity. The Financial Atlas course starts from documentation — helping each learner assemble a clear picture of what they actually hold before any analysis begins. The Equity Markets course gives learners a patient, honest introduction to how publicly listed companies are valued and how Singapore's equity market works in practice. The Retirement Drawdown course addresses the coordination problem that faces most people approaching retirement: how to draw income from several sources in a way that is tax-aware, sustainable, and responsive to household spending patterns.
All three courses are set in Singapore's specific regulatory and institutional context. They are written for Singaporean residents, use Singapore dollar figures, reference CPF Board guidance directly, and are taught by instructors with direct experience of the local market. They are not generic financial literacy programmes adapted from another setting.
